Wilmot Wolverines Annual Service Project
A HUGE SUCCESS!
|
Each year we hold an annual service
project to help our students learn about giving back to
the community they live in. This year we held a food drive. Our
goal was to raise over 1,000 items for the Sharing
Center.
The Sharing Center is a food pantry that
provides clothing, household items and food to western
Kenosha County individuals and families who demonstrate
need.
Overall use of the center is up sharply. Last year, 50
to 70 families used the food pantry each month. That
number has risen to 200. The percentage of families with
children also has climbed.
We collected 1,840 items!!
For our 236 students that was quite an accomplishment!
The class that collect the highest average of items per
student won the opportunity to deliver the food to the
sharing center and help stock the shelves. Mrs.
Pigney and Mrs. Swenson's class collected the highest
average of items. The students did a wonderful job
of stuffing the bus with all of the donated items and
delivering them to the sharing center. They
assisted in sorting the items and putting them on the
shelves.
Thank you to all of our families for helping to
support our service project. |
